New York Beauty Wall Hanging

New York Beauty Wall Hanging

New York Beauty Wall Hanging

Ann has created an awesome wall hanging featuring New York Beauty blocks.  I had fun developing original quilting designs for this project.  It will hang in an old Italian style house so I used Italian tile designs for my influence.  Thanks to Pinterest, they were easy to find!

Corner detail

The batting is Quilter’s Dream Blend and Dream Puff layered together.  Double batting gives lots of texture and allows the quilting detail to pop.

The thread is Superior Threads So Fine 50 in a color that matches the fabrics.

Back detail

The back is a tea dyed muslin which shows off the quilting detail, too!

Here’s the link to my Pinterest board for Italian Design ideas.  How do you think I did?  Thanks for looking!  Linda :)

Marty, part 2

Marty, part 2

As promised here’s another quilt by Marty.  For this we decided on an E2E design I call Nouveau Feather meander combined with a hook!  I love the texture change with this stitching.

Bryan and Ginny quilts

Bryan and Ginny quilts

Ginny’s husband has started quilting and here’s his first quilt!  Pretty ambitious!

The quilting is a freehand meander with Quilter’s Dream Puff batting and the thread is Superior OMNI.

He even created a nice pieced back.  And, I understand he’s working on another one!

Ginny picked up her quilt, too.  I love the color palette on this quilt using Amy Butler fabrics.

It’s quilted with with a freehand peacock feathers meander.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream Blend and the thread is Superior OMNI light tan.

I love the texture created with the quilting, especially on the back.

I’ll be going to a 3 day quilting retreat this weekend.  I plan to work on some loose ends and start some new ones!  I’ll  report back later!

I entered a quilt in this week’s Quilting Blogger’s themed contest, New Beginnings.  I’ll post the link tomorrow for you to see all the quilts and vote if you like!

Thanks for looking and just keep stitching!

Blue and Yellow Wall Hanging – #1

Blue and Yellow Wall Hanging – #1

Janann has made three awesome blue, yellow and white themed quilts.  Here’s the first one, a wall hanging.  Every element has it’s own quilting design.  The thread is Superior So Fine #50 and the batting is Quilter’s Dream Blend.

The background fill adds great texture in the white areas.

The thread is white in the yellow areas but it reads yellow!

Thanks for looking!  I’ll post the others soon!

Peacock Feather Meander

Peacock Feather Meander

Trust me it’s quilted!  While the quilting doesn’t show in this picture, a peacock feather meander is a perfect overall pattern for this quilt.  It’s a freehand design that allows you choose your density.  The thread is Superior Threads So Fine #50 which blends great with this fabric.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream Blend.  Here’s the quilting detail, click pictures to enlarge.

Is this one of your regular quilting designs?  If not, try it on your next project, either as an E2E or background fill.  I’d love to see your pictures, send me a link to your blog or pictures!
