Here’s a perfect quilt for an edge to edge design. A freehand shell design adds lots of movement and texture to the batik fabrics. The thread is a King Tut variegated by Superior Threads and the batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select.

The Kaffe Fassett fabrics are great for every type of quilting however we decided an overall would be best and I used one of the big flowers in the fabric as inspiration for a new meander design called Cockscomb meander. The batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select and the thread is Superior Threads King Tut Joseph’s Coat variegated thread.

The placement of the greens and pinks make a super canvas for fun quilting and variegated thread. I decided to quilt it with “back and forth” feathers using the blocks as guides which creates another pattern with the stitching. The borders are quilted with separate designs and the zig zag inner border is quilted with double back and forth feathers. The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton.
My dear friend Christal just celebrated a birthday and I sent her this quilt! Thanks to Candy, Double Nickel Quilt Challenge, for agreeing to pool our blue and yellow fabrics to make this quilt (actually we have enough to make 4!). I love how the fabrics create a secondary pattern and the “corner/middle/corner” quilting in the blocks creates more secondary patterns with the stitching. I used variegated thread in the outer and inner borders and solid yellow for the center blocks. The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton.
