Connie’s Twister Quilt

Connie’s Twister Quilt

Don’t you love the modern colors for this twister quilt?  And Connie used the leftover squares to make the small twister border!  That’s a nice feature of using the twister tool.  Connie wanted minimal quilting that featured the twister pattern,  She also selected a darker plain backing fabric so the quilting would show on the back.

I designed a tessellating pattern running through the large twisters and a smaller version for the borders.  The cream background is a small loop meander.

I love the secondary pattern this is created and evident from the back.  This will make a fun reversible quilt!

The batting is Quilter’s Dream Wool which is great for accentuating quilting!

The top thread is Superior OMNI, light tan and the bobbin thread is Superior So Fine #50 Teepee.  By using darker thread in bobbin the thread color was subtle against the orange fabric.  The lighter top thread was perfect for the background and twister fabric without having to change thread colors.

Still have a couple of quilts to post before I finish for the year and then on to 2012!

Thanks for looking!

401 Quilts to date!

401 Quilts to date!

Number 401!

I tallied my quilts to date through August and Agnes’ quilt was number 401! That’s pretty exciting! Thank you to everyone who partnered with me to help finish their quilts and projects. I’m looking forward to 400 more! Agnes’ quilt has Hobbs Heirloom wool batting which makes this very large quilt soft, cuddly and surprising light.

Lime Tree Pantograph

Lime Tree Pantograph

Kristin’s quilt is an awesome mix of modern fabrics and when you combine the curves of the Lime Tree pantograph and Quilter’s Dream Wool batting the result is fabulous!  The pictures really speak for themselves, thanks, Kristin for letting me post them!

American Barn quilt by Shelby

American Barn quilt by Shelby

This quilt is awesome and the quilt maker is a senior in high school!  Obviously, this is not her first quilt!  For me, it was an adventure to design the quilting.  Shelby likes Hobbs Heirloom Wool Batting which is great for showing off the quilting designs.  I decided to make something different for each element of the quilt to emphasize the sampler aspect of the quilt.  My granddaughter even got involved in doodling out some designs!  I think she’ll be sewing and quilting soon!  Enjoy the pictures and hopefully Shelby will keep sewing after she goes to college this fall.
