A NEW BOOK GIVEAWAY!

A NEW BOOK GIVEAWAY!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER!  THANKS!!

The publishers of Jennifer Chiaverini’s new novel, The Giving Quilt, asked if I would review her yet to be released novel and host a giveaway!  Of course I said yes!  Not only do I love to read, I love hosting giveaways on my blog!

Here’s a blurb from the publishers:

At Elm Creek Manor, the week after Thanksgiving is “Quiltsgiving,” a time to commence a season of generosity. From near and far, quilters and aspiring quilters—a librarian, a teacher, a college student, and a quilt shop clerk among them—gather for a special winter session of quilt camp to make quilts for Project Linus.

Each quilter, ever mindful that many of her neighbors, friends, and family members are struggling through difficult times, uses her creative gifts to alleviate their collective burden. As the week unfolds, the quilters respond to Sylvia’s provocative question in ways as varied as the life experiences that drew them to Elm Creek Manor. Love and comfort are sewn into the warm, bright, beautiful quilts they stitch, and their stories collectively consider the strength of human connection, and its rich rewards.

Featuring not only well-loved characters but intriguing newcomers, The Giving Quilt will remind us all: Giving from the heart blesses the giver as much as the recipient, and while giving may not always be easy, it is always worthwhile.

The Giving Quilt is a great read and if you’ve been waiting for her stories to go back to Elm Creek Manor and Sylvia, you won’t be disappointed.  Even though the book has a quilting theme, anyone would enjoy this novel.

The book is scheduled to be released October 30, 2012, and I would like to give my advance copy to one lucky reader!

How can you win?  Easy!  Leave a comment about your favorite time to read on this post before midnight CST, October 28, 2012.  My DH will draw the winner from a hat Monday, October 29, 2012.

Good luck!  🙂 Linda

  1. Wow, this seems like a fun novel. Thank you for a chance to win.
My favorite time to read is at night after I have gotten home from work. Its quiet and it is relaxing before bed.

  2. I read all the time. My favorite time to read quilt blogs is early in the morning before my husband gets up. And I’m usually reading a book in the evenings while watching TV (unless I’m knitting). I hate it when I forget to bring a book with me to a doctor’s appointment. Thanks for the chance to win.

  3. My favorite time to read is an hour or so before bedtime; I curl up on the couch, dressed ready for bed. While my husband watches the news, I find a book much more relaxing. Ready to read more of the people at Elm Creek Manor & Sylvia; thanks for the contest!

  4. I enjoy reading in the evening, and have thoroughly enjoyed the Elm Creek series. Thanks for the opportunity.

  5. When do I not like to read. If I could that’s all I would ever do – but then I wouldn’t be able to do my sewing. I have started using audio books so I can multi-task

  6. I like to read early. I like to read late. I like to read by listening to audio books while I sew…yep, a lot of reading in this house. Reading is a wonderful way to settle yourself during any challenging part of life.

  7. Let’s just say I can’t read at night – my eyes get to heavy from a long day. I do love to read in the summer when life is less hectic or on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon when I’m in relaxed mode. Sounds like a great book – I love Debbie MacComber’s books and this sounds right up my alley. Thanks for the chance.

  8. I grew up a voracious reader; I had my nose in a book all the time. After college, I didn’t read much at all. And, while I’m back to my book hoarding days, shelves lined with all sorts of choices, I only read for a few minutes before shutting off the light to go to bed a few days a week. I love my Kindle for making it very easy to take books with me on vacation, too!

  9. Any time is a great time to read if the book holds my interest! I’ve been known to *read* the night away. Thanks for the opportunity to win this book!

  10. My very favorite time to read is my quiet time early early in the morning when I seem to have a clear mind. Thank you for this wonderful giveaway!!

  11. I’m a voracious reader so there really is no “bad” time for me to read. However, I do find myself doing a lot of my reading during the week at lunch.

I’m lucky in that I have an hour long lunch. . . and it is amazing how much reading I can get done in as little as 1/2 hour.

My average is approximately 20 pages a day — which means with an average sized book I can finish 1 book every 2 weeks — just at lunch time! That equates to 26 books a year!

As of today I have already read 25 books this year. . .but I have been going through a number of medical issues due to a car accident early in the year so the reading helps the time spent in waiting rooms.

Thank you for hosting this giveaway!

  12. My favorite time to read is all the time! but life gets in the way and I find that I get the most reading done in the evening before bed. Of course you can’t beat a rainy or snowy weekend wrapped in a quilt with a large cup of coffee either! I have two of Jennifer C.’s books left to read in order catch up to this one – hope my name gets drawn! Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. I love to read any spare moment, morning noon or night. I have read all the Jennifer Chiaverini books, and eagerly await each new one.

  14. I find I only have time to read at night. With weddings and quilt shows interstate lately it has been Airplanes, airports and motels are where I get most of my reading done.

  15. Thanks so much for a chance to win. I love Jennifer’s books!
My favorite time to read is in the evening when I can finally relax and enjoy it.

  16. My favorite time depends upon the book – book like this works well before bedtime, Tom Clancy works best on Sunday afternoon (long before bedtime).

  17. OMG – I love these books an my favourite time to read is when I am visiting my children in another state and I don’t have my sewing machine or computer!!!!

  18. I have read a few of the books in this series and really enjoyed them. I don’t have as much time to read as I used to, but my favorite time is first thing in the morning. I developed that habit when the kids were small and it was about my only “alone time” in the day.

  19. I love to prop up my feet, have a cold diet Coke beside me , and a good book to read. Any time of day!

  20. I read every spare minute I have. I never leave home without a book in my purse and have been known to read at red lights if I’m really loving the book. I love these books and can’t wait to read the newest.

  21. I love all Jennifer’s books but especially the ones that center around the Elm Creek quilters. My favorite time to read is before going to sleep at nite, but if the book is really good, my favorite time is until it’s done! Lol

  22. I like to listen to audio books while I quilt. I love the Elm Creek quilters series and would like to read this one.

  23. I don’t have a favourite time to read–anytime is good reading time. I tend to read really late if my DH isn’t home and doesn’t turn the lights off on me, I read while waiting for my kids at their activities, I read whenever really.

  24. I like to read right before bed each night, helps me to relax and just unwind.
Thanks for the chance to win.

  25. I love her books and have read most of them. I like to read in the evening right before bed. Sometimes the words just draw you in like you are right there that it’s hard to put it down and find the book beside you when you wake up in the morning. Thank you for the chance to win one of Jennifers books.
