Happy Leap Day!

Happy Leap Day!

I’m out of the studio this week (I’m helping out at my sister’s shop for the week) but I wanted to make a Leap Day Post before it was over!

During my breaks, I’ve managed to do some hexie sewing.  I’m tempted to bring my sewing machine, too, I miss my sewing time!

I’ll get back to the longarm this weekend, deadlines are looming!

I can’t believe it’s March already!  I am currently scheduling quilts for late April and May, if you need your project quilted for graduation please contact me by email:  linda at lrdesignsquilting dot com

I did a PSQ block!

I did a PSQ block!

I followed Mary’s PSQ demonstration and now I have one 64 charm block!  Her demo was perfect but I goofed up a couple of times and had to fix it so my seams would go the right direction.  The charms are 1 1/2″, the block is 8 1/2″.

I’m still cutting up fabric for the Postage Stamp Quilt Swap and Challenge and hope I have enough for whatever the next challenge or swap is!  I’m cutting 1 1/2″, 2″ and 2 1/2″ squares but I plan to swap the 2″.

I’m adding 1 1/2 inch strips to my cutting sizes because I just bought the Pineapple tool and the Trash to Treasure book by Gyleen X. Fitzgerald.  Between squares and strips, I’m going to make scrap quilts using my stash!

And the winner is!

And the winner is!

My wonderful husband pulled the lucky winner from the hat – Karen O!

Her comment:  “I love quilting, and love it more as time goes by. I love picturing the outcome, choosing the fabrics, and learning how to put it all together.”

Congratulations, Karen!

Thanks to everyone who entered with your comments and subscribed to my blog!  It was fun!

Sonoma Rose by Jennifer Chiaverini book review

Sonoma Rose by Jennifer Chiaverini book review

Just finished reading the advance copy of Sonoma Rose by Jennifer Chiaverini!  Thank you Dutton Publishing for the opportunity to enjoy this novel.

The book is everything the reviews promised.  Set in California’s wine country during prohibition there’s plenty of interesting twists as the plot develops around the strong female character.  While it’s not centered around quilt making but wine making, quilts do have a role.

I’m happy to send this book on to the next reader!  Check out my original post for how you can win this book.

Thanks to everyone who’s commented so far about your quilting/craft love.  I can’t imagine my life without quilting or sewing.  I cherish especially all the friends I’ve made through this common bond of quilting.
