Happy New Year! And my year in review by the numbers!

Happy New Year! And my year in review by the numbers!

Wow, 2020! Looking back at 2019, I’m amazed that I got any quilting or sewing done at all! It was my year of travel and adventures. My excursions took me to wintery Nisswa MN, sunny Anna Marie Island FL, amazing Santa Fe NM, incredible Zdar Nad Sazavou Czech Republic and historic Mackinac Island Michigan! And if you add in working at quilt shows, family fun vacations and shopping trips, I left my home state 11 times last year! I will do my very best to keep it up this year!!

On the quilting front, I was happily surprised that 44 customer quilts, 19 charity quilts and 7 personal quilts were under Winifred’s needle in 2019! Here’s some of the quilts I gifted in 2019.

I should have kept a count of how many Hot Pad Table Runners that I made with my sisters! Lots! And the last group included some trivet sizes and sports theme, great for gifts!

And I’m still making zipper pouches for anyone who inkles that they want one! Each one is it’s own style, you never know what side the zipper pull will end up!

Speaking of numbers, here’s to celebrating 94 year, 64 year and 4 year old birthdays! In 2020 we’ll hit landmark birthdays together!

I might as well keep going with a personal accomplishment of losing 16 pounds and going to 211 Jazzercise classes in 2019!!

Happy New year and thank you to my clients who trusted me with their projects in 2019, I look forward to 2020!

If you care to comment, please go to my Facebook page or Instagram feed, I love to hear from you. And I have all kinds of things on my Pinterest page!

Let’s have a great year and keep stitching!

Surprise “Congrats Quilt” for Jenny!

Surprise “Congrats Quilt” for Jenny!

Every year we travel to my brother’s house in Missouri to celebrate Thanksgiving with a big family reunion! This year I was able to deliver a surprise quilt for my niece Jenny who is graduating with a Business degree in December! Her daughter, Alexis (on left) gave me the idea earlier this year and if you know quilters, we are always looking for someone to gift a quilt to! Alexis received a quilt from me when she graduated high school, here’s a link to that quilt! The quilt pattern is Squiggles in Christa Watson’s book, Piece and Quilt with Precuts. I hope all of you had a great holiday weekend and now it’s December! Woohoo!

Thank you! Linda D

Tummy Time Quilt for Nikola

Tummy Time Quilt for Nikola

This summer I traveled to Czech Republic to deliver a baby quilt to my nephew’s new baby, Nikola Lily! Her older sister, Simona, received her baby quilt via my sister when she visited in 2017. This time, I was able to deliver it personally with my 2 sisters! In addition to meeting the latest member of our family, we had a grand time exploring Czech Republic!

I love it when I can stitch their name in the quilt and add my personal signature “Love – Aunt Linda”!

My sister found this “vintage” panel while organizing and I decided it’d be a fun gift for Nikki, too!

Where will I go next to deliver a quilt? Not sure, but I hope it’s another country!!

Thanks! Linda D

Vintage Carolina Lily Quilt

Vintage Carolina Lily

This vintage Carolina Lily quilt was fun to quilt! The outside edges are difficult to see in this picture but the cone shaped border will be finished with scalloped edges. I’m hoping for a finished picture after Nancy attaches the binding. If it was me, I would cut that straight! And that’s why she is finishing it and not me!!

The large on point setting blocks were perfect for some feathered wreaths!

Before quilting

Sometimes vintage quilts are not perfectly flat or have some fullness issues. Every time I started a block, I was nervous it would not “quilt out”!

After quilting

I’m happy to say every block turned out great!

Just for fun, here’s a modern Carolina Lily quilt.

Thanks for looking! All the quilting is freehand with an 2017 APQS Freddie, affectionately known as Winifred. I love to hear from you, please comment on my Facebook page or follow me on Instagram.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Linda
