E2E using the blocks = Sine Waves

E2E using the blocks = Sine Waves

Candy of The Double Nickel Quilt Challenge wanted simple all over quilting for this quilt. Masculine motif, no leaves, hearts or feathers.  I really wanted to play off all the squares and rectangles so I started drawing connecting patterns that would go edge to edge (E2E) and on paper they looked like sine waves.

To add some interest, I overlapped the waves going the opposite direction and this is the result!  It’s not mathematically correct but it’s fast and fun!  The secondary octagon and X patterns are a nice coincidence!

Candy pieced the back from random fat quarters and the quilting looks great there, too.

This technique is very similar to Terry Twist Plus used on another quilt by Candy.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select and the thread is So Fine #50 by Superior Threads.
