Happy Wedding, Chelsea and Brian!

Happy Wedding, Chelsea and Brian!

Modern Rustic Charm

Earlier this month we celebrated at Chelsea and Brian’s wedding and here’s my present to them!  This is my design using Moda Grunge 5″ charm packs for the off center vertical design and the horizontal row in the back.  My title for this quilt is “Modern Rustic Charm”.  I love the distressed nature of the Grunge fabric!back of quiltThe backing needed the extra row to make it big enough.
name and date detailThe quilting design is a back forth grid matching the size of the charm squares with the couple’s name and wedding date stitched in the quilt.Wrapped and labeledI love Moda’s Grunge line of fabric.  The newest line of colors is out, here’s a place to buy it!  I have an idea for a jelly roll pattern, so it’s on my wish list!!

That’s 4 weddings and 2 babies so far this year!  And there’s still more to come!  If time permits, I hope to post some awesome customer, too!

Happy stitching!

Happy Wedding, Chris and Arissa!

Happy Wedding, Chris and Arissa!

Rectangles and SquaresLast month we celebrated with Chris and Arissa at their wedding and this was my present to them.  This quilt, “Rectangles and Squares” is a result of my moratorium on sewing triangles and I’m still not sewing too many triangles!! I love the simplicity of it and it’s a fun way to use a collection of fabrics.  I have a mini-tutorial for making this quilt here!  A scrappy version of this is on my quilts to make list.front and backI love how the swirly quilting compliments the backing fabric and the rectangles on the front.front detailIt looks like a different quilt when you rotate it and the rectangles are vertical.  That could be the next layout!wrapped, ready and baggedI even surprised myself by making a label, (the day of the wedding, haha!) and here’s a look into the gift bag!  As you can see, they’ve already celebrated their one month anniversary!!  Happy Wedding, Chris and Arissa!

Stay tuned for more wedding quilt reveals!

Marty's Batik RectanglesI can’t believe June is almost over!  Marty and I used the border fabric to inspire the edge to edge quilting design, Soft Overlapping Rectangles Mender.border print is inspirationBy making the corners soft instead of sharp, it’s a new design!Soft overlapping rectangle meanderI love it!!

Barb’s Purple and Green – This is how I do it!

Barb’s Purple and Green – This is how I do it!

Barb's Purple and Green column quiltWhen Barb and I discussed her quilt, I suggested green thread for the E2E Floral Meander quilting design.  I like to match the top and bobbin thread so the green thread would be a nice contrast for the purple backing fabric.  I love it!Floral Meander back detail The batting is Quilters Dream Puff, which enhances the quilting, too.Floral Meander front detailWe’re playing with a new camera attached to my longarm, so here’s a video of how I quilt my Floral Meander!  Enjoy!

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

A Wedding – Anniversary Quilt

A Wedding – Anniversary Quilt

Wedding DayWhen Sheila’s daughter got married a year ago, quilt blocks were the guest book!  And for their first anniversary they received their quilt!Wedding - AnniversaryIsn’t this a great idea?  Many of the blocks have special messages, including their vows.Wedding Vows

The backing is a smooth Minkee and that was a learning experience!  The quilt is large, therefore the Minkee was pieced, which thankfully, was not an issue.  The issue was batting, Sheila initially didn’t want batting because of weight.  I started the quilt without batting but the first few stitches looked horrible!  They were very puckered and awful.  I suggested Quilter’s Dream Poly select because it is light weight and is very user care friendly.Minkee backing

I’m happy to report, success!  Everything quilted beautifully and the batting added very little additional weight.  The quilting design is a freehand Swirl and Curl and the thread is InvisaFil.

Have you ever started quilting a project and after a few stitches abandon your plans and start over?  Sometimes, you just have to do it!

Thanks!!  🙂 Linda
