Last week was a crazy week of volunteering and vending, starting with Machine Quilters Showcase in Cedar Rapids, IA and ending with International Quilt Market in Minneapolis, MN! Optical Illusions was the theme for MQS 2015 and this quilt “Tiger, Tiger” by Kristin Vierra of Lincoln, NE won first place for Theme and Viewer’s Choice. Here’s a list of the winners. I was very excited to have a national quilt show in my back yard and while I didn’t take classes or enter a quilt, I did volunteer for several days! Volunteering in the judges’ room was a fabulous experience and I have great respect for the judges and those who enter their quilts. In addition to volunteering, I worked in a vendor booth for Rainbows and Calico Things quilt shop.
I ended the week with a quick trip to Spring Quilt Market Minneapolis to help in my friend in her exhibitor booth as she launches her pattern company, Double Nickel Quilts! I did get to walk around market and meet the wonderful folks at Quilters Dream Batting and check out their new 80/20 pink batting!
It was a whirlwind of a week but I would do it all over again, it was so much fun! Now, I’m back in the studio quilting away, trying to keep on schedule.
My comments are still turned off but I love hearing from you, especially if you were at MQS or Quilt Market!
