LAQ Sneak Peak

LAQ Sneak Peak

I’ve been busy custom quilting multiple items for one customer and haven’t posted  pictures lately.  So here’s a sneak peak of the last one I’m working on and will hopefully finish soon.  More to follow when they’re done!

Thanks for looking.  And if you recognize this quilt, don’t tell Janann!

Christmas Ribbons

Christmas Ribbons

Aren’t Christmas quilts fun!  I have to admit that I have a Christmas UFO hanging in my closet, just needs to be quilted!  Maybe next year I’ll quilt mine!  This is one of three Christmas themed quilts Marty brought me for quilting.  It was fun to follow the style of the quilt and quilt it with ribbons and a fun flower in the negative spaces. The thread matches in the negative spaces but I love the great texture it creates when the light hits it.

The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton select and the thread is Superior Threads OMNI.

How’s your Christmas sewing going?  Have a great stitching weekend!!

Celia’s Block Party quilt

Celia’s Block Party quilt

When Celia brought me this quilt, I thought it looked familiar!  Her friend Janann made the same quilt without borders which I had quilted earlier this year.  Celia let me have free reign with this quilt and I created a design using the square in square elements of the set.  And to complete the look, I used square feathers in the block design and the border braid design.  The wool batting gives the quilt lots of movement and texture.

Marilyn’s Batik quilt

Marilyn’s Batik quilt

After seeing this quilt by Marilyn, I developed my quilting design called “back and forth feathers” and quilted it on several other quilts, Marty’s, Drew and Abby’s, and Rainbows‘ first, before Marilyn brought hers to me for quilting.

Update:  The pattern for this quilt is “Do The Twist” by This & That.

The quilting uses the blocks as guidelines creating secondary designs.  It’s a feather design with a modern twist.  The blocks in Marilyn’s quilt are much larger that the other quilts but the designs still works.

The pieced back is awesome!  This quilt could be reversible!

How do you know if it’s a longarm quilter?  Because they are always showing their backs!

The batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly and the thread is Superior Threads So Fine #50.

Mary’s Rebel Roses quilt – check!

Mary’s Rebel Roses quilt – check!

Another check for my Quilting Bucket List!  I’m late giving Mary her birthday present but better late than never, right?!  My quilt guild had a show this year so I delayed giving it to Mary so it could be on display.  Here’s the proof!

And yes, that’s Drew and Abby’s wedding quilt on the right, they had to wait for their quilt, too!  Mary’s quilt is my original design using a design wall to place the blocks.  Very simple, really shows off the fabrics.  Here’s a couple detail pictures of the quilting.

The Quilter’s Dream Orient batting drapes well and has that wonderful antique look after washing.  It’s really evident from the back.

Now, on to the next one!  Thanks for visiting!
