It’s a boy!

It’s a boy!

Jordy’s Tummy Time quilt

Do you remember the baby shower gift wrapped in a quilt?  Well, that baby is a boy!  I decided to finish the boy version the day my niece went to the hospital!  I was getting progress reports from the grandma (my sister) while  I was stitching away.  I had the binding made and sewn on by machine, front and back, by 10:30 pm and Jordy was born at 12:03 am, so I had it done before he was born!!

Here I am giving Jordy his Tummy Time quilt, isn’t he cute?!   I guess I’ll have to wait for another baby for the girl version to be gifted.  I have lots of nieces and nephews so it’ll happen soon.  My son got married this summer, they could make me  grandma again!!

stitched label

The label is stitched with Packer green thread in honor of his Packer namesake, Jordy Nelson.  Yes, he’s named after a Green Bay Packer player!

Dream Puff batting

The backing and binding are flannel, soft and cozy!

The batting is Quilter’s Dream Puff and the thread is A&E PermaCore.

Three Sampler Quilts finished!

Three Sampler Quilts finished!

I’ve just completed  3 different sampler quilts for Christmas delivery.  All of them are larger than my hanging space, so they drape onto the floor!

For Jan’s 2 samplers, she wanted very simple quilting so they both have a meander.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton.

We based the thread color choice on the fabric used in the center, where the meander is slightly smaller to go around the applique.  The thread is OMNI by Superior.  The color is a soft gold, which for many quilts is like a neutral.  I’ve used it on several quilts.

For the pink and brown sampler, we selected Superior Threads Choco Cherry Lava.  The quilt photograph doesn’t show the color change as well, but it’s perfect for this quilt!  This is a good one to add to your thread collection.

For Mary’s star sampler, we decided on custom quilting with different designs for each block, separate border designs and a featured design in the center!  This one took some planning, but once I got started it just seemed to take on a life of it’s own!  The batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select and the thread is Superior So Fine #50.  I took a lot of pictures so here’s a link to the front and back galleries.
