Christal’s Sun and Sky

Christal’s Sun and Sky

My dear friend Christal just celebrated a birthday and I sent her this quilt!  Thanks to Candy, Double Nickel Quilt Challenge, for agreeing to pool our blue and yellow fabrics to make this quilt (actually we have enough to make 4!).  I love how the fabrics create a secondary pattern and the “corner/middle/corner” quilting in the blocks creates more secondary patterns with the stitching.  I used variegated thread in the outer and inner borders and solid yellow for the center blocks.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton.

  1. What a glorious surprise! I burst into tears at the sight of this lovely quilt. My favorite colors, the intricate design on design…I truly feel honored to have your beautiful work. The swirls in variegated thread adds a whimsical air to the precision of all the angles of this quilt. (Candy, thank you for sharing your fabrics with my dear friend Linda!)

    A treasure.
