Now that graduation is over for most schools, I can post recent quilts made for grads! The last quilt is a commissioned T-shirt quilt that I made for a lucky high school grad.

Happy Memorial Day! Here’s a recent Quilt of Valor made by Sheila. The fabric is a 2011 Moda collection and the pattern is a free download. While you may not be able to get the fabric today, I’m sure you could find something similar. Here’s a link to download the .pdf flag-of-valor
Sheila requested an edge to edge (E2E) for the quilting but I decided to connect the stars for the bunting part of the quilt!
The bottom of the quilt is one of my favorite E2E’s, Cockscomb meander. I love the flowery texture it creates.

Another May finish! This quilt was started on a whim and I love it when I actually finish! After checking out Great Granny Square quilts on Pinterest and other blogs, I decided to add cornerstones and binding with a green fabric from my stash. I tried scrappy cornerstones but the same color looked best to me.
All the fabric was from my stash of 2 1/2″ or 5″ squares plus lots of white remnants. My quilting buddy, Candace, decided to set her blocks without cornerstones. Here’s a pic of hers before the binding. The background fabric is white, my indoor lighting does not do it justice!
The block quilting was inspired by a Pinterest pinner who made potholders out of her Great Granny Squares. After some trial and error, I managed to figure out a path for stitching with the longarm without having to break my thread! 
I love the stitching and did the same thing on Candace’s except for the outside edge fill.
We’ve finally got some nice weather for outside picture taking. The natural light is so much better!

Another finish! Here’s a fun and fast project that I assembled at last month’s retreat and slipped into my quilting rotation this month. For three years we’ve been staying at a great bed and breakfast in Decorah, Iowa while our daughter attends Luther College. Now that our daughter is ready to graduate, I wanted to make a gift for our hostess. We visited Decorah this week and I was excited to give her this table runner gift.
The pattern recommends print in the chevron but I was using fabric from my stash and I liked the print on the outside. This would be a great class project because you can sew the top together in about an hour.

flea market may 14
Last Saturday was Flea Market day! We didn’t find any vintage fabric or quilt tops to buy but I did bring home two nice Fire King pieces and a great vintage handkerchief. I love the colors!

The azure saucer and opaque batter bowl will be added to my vintage collection that I use often.

While, I think this Fire King Tulip Bowl is very usable, I just couldn’t bring myself to peel off the cash to bring it home! So I took a picture to remember it!
