A November finish – Bridget’s Bagettes

A November finish – Bridget’s Bagettes

Sometimes it’s fun to make small gift projects, and Bridget’s Bagettes by Atkinson Designs is a great one to try.

I started by making 4 of the larger Bagettes, measuring 5″ x 9-1/2″.  These will be used by our women’s group at church for offering envelopes!

Next, I made 2 sets of all the sizes to give to my sisters during our recent weekend together!  My sister, Marge immediately put one to good use with shopping coupons.

Using vinyl was a new experience for me but the pattern has tips for making it easier.  One of them is to put tissue paper between your sewing machine bed and the vinyl.  And yes, that really is necessary, otherwise the vinyl sticks to the machine and you’re sewing crooked!

I’m linking with A Stitch in Time for a November finish!  Yay!  Hopefully, there will be more!  Thanks for looking!  🙂 Linda

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 3

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 3

Here’s my 3rd block for the BlockBase Sew Along.  It’s #2448.  A big thank you to Candace for making the paper pieced templates with EQ7 and sharing them with me!!

I’m still using mostly vintage fabrics from the flea market.  Following the coloring in BlockBase, I used 9 fabrics.  I like how it turned out, especially with the red squares.

Another Vintage find

Another Vintage find

On a recent shopping adventure, my quilting buddy, Candace  and I found this twin size quilt top.  It’s in great condition, totally hand pieced and sweet!  I might have to find someone to date the fabric in this quilt.  Some of it feels and looks like feed sack fabric.  The framed 9-patch block with the solid block is a great layout, and even though it’s “vintage” it has a very modern feel.

Aren’t these fabrics great!?  Now that I’ve collected several vintage quilt tops, I need to schedule some time to finish them.  This will be a fun quilt to play with the big white areas!

Check out Coloradolady: Vintage Thingie Thursday for other vintage finds!

UPS just brought me a 65 pound bundle of joy!  Stay tuned for the full reveal next week!!!

Have a great weekend!  🙂 Linda

And the winner is….

And the winner is….

Thanks to everyone who commented on my book giveaway post.  I enjoyed reading all your comments.  My favorite and only time to read is during meals!  My hubby got me a cookbook holder so my hands are free.  Yes, I ignore my hubby but we work together 24/7 and he doesn’t mind!

My DH was busy today, so I used Random Generator to select the winner from the 30 comments.

The winner is #23!

I love to prop up my feet, have a cold diet Coke beside me , and a good book to read. Any time of day!

Thanks to all who entered!  Happy Reading!  🙂 Linda

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 2

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 2

Here’s my second block for the BlockBase Sew Along.  If you have BlockBase, it’s #2741.

Initially, I wasn’t too excited about making this block but my quilting buddy, Candace, saved the day!  She used EQ7 to make paper piecing templates and I was off and running!  Like my first block, I used mostly vintage fabric from recent flea market purchases.  I love how it turned out!

Here’s the link to see more blocks in the sew along.
