Thread Galore and New Lights!

Thread Galore and New Lights!

So Fine 50

And this is only my So Fine! #50 collection!  My wonderful hubby replaced the lights over my longarm for my birthday, which prompted taking a thread inventory and cleaning.  As you can see, I love using Superior Threads So Fine! #50 thread!  Believe it or not, I made a short shopping list for the AQS show in Des Moines this weekend.

The lights are on!

I’m excited to load a quilt and see if the new lights are in improvement.  Just in time for the shorter days, so I can keep stitching later!

Are you going to the AQS show in Des Moines?  I’ll be working at Rainbows and Calico Things Thursday, come see me when you’re driving to Des Moines!  And I’ll be Des Moines for the weekend, sewing with friends and cruising the quilt show and vendors!  See you there!

Quilt Show on the Farm

Quilt Show on the Farm

Cindy's Scrappy Squares and Pinwheels

This weekend, Rainbows and Calico Things quilt shop in Williamsburg, Iowa, hosted a quilt show on the farm.  Rainbows and Calico Things is located on the family’s century farm, making it an ideal place to showcase local talent and enjoy Iowa’s beautiful August weather.

Here’s a quilt by Cindy that’s super scrappy and awesome!  I don’t know what pattern she used but it looks like Bonnie Hunter’s Patches and Pinwheels.

How did Cindy make her quilt?  Pinwheels and 16 patches?  Four patches and half square triangles?  Does anyone know the name of 2 four patch and 2 hst block?

All Iowa Shop Hop 2012 Blocks

Here’s a fun quilt featuring the blocks from the 2012 All Iowa Shop hop.  The sashing is quilted with the town where they collected the block pattern.  Pretty awesome!  On a side note, the quilter is from Missouri!

Thanks!  Linda 🙂

AQS Des Moines!

AQS Des Moines!

We had a great time at the AQS quilt show in Des Moines yesterday!  Lots of great quilts and lots of vendors!!  Check out the link for a slide show of the winners.  Here’s a quilt that doesn’t look like a quilt when it’s photographed!  It’s “Quilter’s DNA” by Roger Winchell of Asheville, NC.  Pretty awesome!!

Besides thread, my purchases were gadgets!  Normally, I’m all about fabric but everything I wanted was sold out!  So, I have 3 new tools to try out – Seam-Fix seam ripper, Spiral Eye Needles, and Pilot Frixion erasable pen.  I’m anxious to use them and will report back with a product review!  If you have already used these products, leave me a comment with your review!
