Paisley Party – Design Wall Monday

Paisley Party – Design Wall Monday

In an effort to find some fabric for making Great Granny Squares, I found a stash of Paisley Party fabric by Red Rooster.  A few years ago I made a graduation quilt using this fabric and free pattern from Red Rooster.  The fabric is all cut to 4 1/2″strips and I couldn’t bear to cut it again into 2 1/2″ so I’m going to randomly sew it into rows and see what I get!  I have more of the white, green and aqua to make 32 more 4 patch units.  I love this fabric and what’s left will make a small lap or baby quilt.

Design Wall Monday – Flea Market UFO!

Design Wall Monday – Flea Market UFO!

Here’s a recent flea market purchase – “vintage” quilt blocks.  I don’t need another Loose Ends project but I couldn’t resist this unfinished quilt.  The improv piecing and use of solid fabrics looks like today’s modern quilts!   I plan to deconstruct some of the blocks and reassemble the quilt into a 5 x 6 set.

What would you do with 33 vintage blocks?

I posted my finished quilt on the Quilting Board and had several people ask for the pattern.  Well, much to my surprise, I found the pattern on the RJR website!

So, here’s the link to the pattern!   The pattern has been removed, sorry!

The original quilt is at the Michigan State University Museum and the pattern includes several pages of historical information about the quilt maker, Laura May Clarke.

This picture from the RJR website more accurately represents the color.  For some reason, my camera doesn’t like purple!  I trimmed the squares on the outside edges, the original quilter did not!

A big thanks to RJR for posting the pattern online for me to find 10 years later!  I originally purchased this pattern in 2002!!!

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!  🙂 Linda

A Finish!

A Finish!

I finally have a finish to share!  This is an old one, I think I bought the kit in 2003!  And I’m so happy to tie up this Loose End and mark it complete!

To give it the antique, wrinkly texture, I machine washed and machine dried the quilt.  I love the outcome, it’s so cuddly!!

The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton select.

And to celebrate my finish I’m linking to Such a Sew and Sew June Linky party!

Hope you’re having a great summer!  I’m planning my UGLY Fabric Challenge quilt and will be posting my progress on that soon.  Thanks for looking!

Design Wall Monday and Quilts everywhere!

Design Wall Monday and Quilts everywhere!

My PSQ blocks have grown to four!  When I’m short on sewing time or talking on the phone (lol), I sew charms!  I love the way the blocks look set together.  I’ve received over 700 charms in the PSQ Challenge swap and they are all different!  I’m really quite amazed at that.

I’m also working on:

Love’s Woven Rectangles is laying on the design “floor”, waiting for sewing.  I’m loving it!

Squares and Rectangles is pressed and waiting for borders.

The Purple Trip top is draped over the longarm, finished!  I’m heading over to Rainbows and Calico Things to acquire the backing fabric today.  This quilt will be reversible.  I’ve sewn most of the leftover squares together for the back and will frame it with additional fabric to make it the right size.

That’s what happening in my sewing room today!  Later on today, I’ll be loading a customer quilt on the longarm!  What are you doing today?  If you’re in Iowa, join the All Iowa Shop Hop!
