Scrappy Coiled Bowls

Scrappy Coiled Bowls

Coiled bowls first attempt

Here’s my first attempt at making coiled bowls using clothesline and batiks! filled with Christmas treats     They looked even better filled with cookies! trivet and bowl thread play         My next attempt used variegated thread and a regular zig-zag stitch.  I love how the thread color changes the look of the bowl. same fabric different threads           Now I’m hooked! size reference           Here’s an idea of how big I’m making the bowls.  If you click on picture you’ll notice I used two threads for this bowl, I love it! I have to confess that I cut apart a WIP to make these.  Do you remember the convergent quilt I started recently? Well… In the process of sewing it together, I made a couple mistakes and instead of fixing it, I cut it up to make the bowls!  The strips were the perfect size! I’m linking with Such a Sew and Sew for a December finish.  Check out other finishes here. December Finishes Thanks!  Linda 🙂

Custom vs E2E

Custom vs E2E

“So, how do you want it quilted?” Should you go for the custom quilting or the economical edge to edge quilting? Sometimes it’s the quilts decision! Here are 2 quilts from the same customer using the same fabrics, same batting and about the same size. One quilt is custom, one quilt is E2E and when you look at the pictures you’ll see why. The overall quilting adds texture and detail and is the best quilting option for quilt 1. The custom quilting with border, block, sashing and background fill designs, along with 3 different thread choices really makes this quilt stand out, making it the best option for quilt 2.
