Dish Mats You Want to Use!

Dish Mats You Want to Use!

Every Christmas, I try to make a crafty item for my siblings, kids and extended family and this year the item was Dish Mats!  I almost gave them all away before taking a picture!  My sister got hers yesterday, so now I can blog about it!

Finding fabrics for the kitchen is fun!  For one set, I added a 1 1/2″ border of coordinating fabric.  You would need a bigger counter for this size.  The majority of them where a squared up fat quarter, that fits best on my counter.

The back is a nice terry cloth that has been pre-washed and dried.  There are some colors available but I liked the quality of the white so all of mine are white.  Later this month, I will post a tutorial on the sewing steps so you can easily make your own!

Hope your New Year is starting off with lots of sewing!  I have a quilting retreat in January!  It’s three days of non stop sewing, eating and sharing ideas!  Rainbows and Calico Things Quilt shop is the host.  After we send our college aged daughter off to England tomorrow, I’ll be back at the longarm working on customer quilts, too!  And I have a few more quilts from last year to blog about!

Just Keep Stitching!

Year in review..

Year in review..

As we say good bye to 2011 and hello to 2012, it’s time to reflect back on the year past.

First, thank you to everyone who partnered with me to finish their quilts, 2011 was my best year ever for LAQ!  I crossed the 400 quilts grand total mid year!  My total for 2011 was 127 and 12 of those quilted were my personal quilts!

Look for my personal UFO Challenge next year, I’ll be posting pictures of my quilts in progress and shaming myself into finishing them!

This will be my 126th post!   You can follow me on Facebook or Pinterest, too!  I’ve been finding some awesome quilting ideas on Pinterest, so check out my pins!

Lots of batiks!

My personal favorite quilt of the year is the wedding quilt for my son, Drew and his wife Abby!  You can read about that post here.  Drew is also my tech support and own personal web guru!  I really appreciate what he does for me, even though he lives in Florida!

It’d be hard to pick my favorite customer quilt from the 100+ that I did this year!  It seems like my favorite is the one I just finished.  Here’s a couple links for you to check out from this year.   Celia’s Mystery Quilt

A benefit of blogging is the pictures!  I now have a very good record of quilts for current and future customers to look at!  My goal in 2012 is to post a picture of every quilt.  I think I missed a few in 2011.

Thanks again for a great year and many blessings to you and yours in 2012!!

Happy Stitching!

Linda

I love it!

I love it!

When I give my quilts to babies, I include a note to parents:  “This is not an heirloom!  Machine wash and dry.  Use it on the floor, at the park or at a picnic!  If you wear it out, I’ll make another one!”

I love it when they take me at my word!  Here’s Zeke sleeping in the rocks while his parents and sister are rock climbing near by.  He’s nestled in the rocks with his sister’s quilt (here’s a link to Zeke’s quilt) but that’s okay, it’s being used!

Hope you’re enjoying the final days of 2011 and getting some of your UFO’s checked off your list!

Happy sewing!  Linda

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all!  Have a blessed day!
