On the Needles – Waffle Hat

On the Needles – Waffle Hat

Waffle Hat

I found another beanie hat pattern on Ravelry!  I’m using 16″ circular needles for the body and will switch to double points to make the crown.  I’ll stop making beanies when I run out of yarn or spring gets here!

Check out Judy at Patchwork Times for other On the Needles projects!

Back to sewing quilts and LAQ!

Thanks for looking!  🙂 Linda

two tone beanie

When I’m not sewing, I’m either knitting or reading (notice I didn’t say cleaning or cooking!).  Here’s the latest finish, another wool beanie.  I’ve made this pattern twice so I had two partial skeins left and just like quilting, I used the remnants to make this one!  Hopefully, the lucky Luther College student I’m sending it to will like this one, too.

I’m off to sew my quilting buddy today to work on my WIP’s!

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend.  🙂 Linda

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 9

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 9

Block 9

Here’s my Block 9 for the BlockBase Sew Along.  My first thought was, wow, look at all the pieces!  I followed the cutting instructions for an 8″ block and it went together perfectly.  As always, the hard part is picking out the fabric.  I decided to stay lighter for this one, using one of the fabrics from block 8.

Here’s the link to see what others did for Block 9.

9 blocksNine blocks done, 3 to go.  Look at all the variety!  Now, to figure out how to make a quilt out of these!

Thanks!  🙂 Linda

Little Vintage Finish and Back to Work!

50 cent find

Retreats and Florida vacation, oh my!

Here’s one of my flea market bargains, finished!  It measures about 32 x 39 inches and I’m amazed how great it looks quilted.  The sewing is very “off” and several blocks were trimmed in the process of squaring it up for binding.  Even with puckered seams and unusual fabric, I love how it looks!  I finished it with some very old chambray fabric from my pre-quilting stash.  This would make a great little play mat or mini picnic quilt.  In case you’re wondering, I paid 50 cents for the unfinished quilt top!

I’m linking up with A Stitch in Time for a February finish.

Yes,Orlando was wonderful and we had a great time enjoying the sunshine and walks around the lake.  My son likes to grow a beard for Florida “winters”!  We visited a couple nice quilt shops, too.

Now that taxes, laundry and mail are caught up, I can get back to LAQ.  The next one is big.  The backing fabric uses every inch of my leaders!

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 8

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 8

Block 8

Here’s my block 8 for the BlockBase Sew Along. This time we could choose between 2 blocks, #1407a or #1401.   I chose #1401 to avoid set in seams!

I used Triangles on a Roll to make the 1 1/2″ finished half square triangles.  The other elements are squares and rectangles, easy.   I wasn’t intending my make a monochromatic block but the fabrics were in a remnant pile and they looked good!  It’s actually much prettier in person, my camera doesn’t like to photograph this color.

Here’s the link to see how others completed block 8.

Thanks!  🙂 Linda
