Vintage Coffee Pot – revived

Vintage Coffee Pot – revived

original coffee basket

Quite a few years ago, I acquired this coffee pot at an estate sale.  Coffee is brewed by pouring boiling water over the grounds.  This is my favorite method for making perfect coffee and I usually use a Melitta Cone Filter Coffee Maker.  However, when you bang the glass pot against the sink, it breaks!

So, out comes my vintage coffee pot, which  holds the cone filter perfectly.using melita 6 cup filter  The pot looks great on my counter and I’ve got my excellent coffee every morning.  The original brewer works fine but I prefer using the filter for less sediment.

I love it when I can use vintage!

Design Wall Monday – Haley’s Stash

Design Wall Monday – Haley’s Stash

second design

Our granddaughter, Haley, is staying with us and yesterday we cut her stash into 5 inch squares!   At first, she wanted to arrange her squares to spell 1 D, for the band One Direction. (If you have a 10 year old girl in your family, you’ll know who they are!!)  I steered her away from that and this is the design she made.  Next time we’ll tackle sewing the squares together.  Wish me luck!!!

My other design wall is sorting charms for the next Postage Stamp Quilt swap!

sorting charms again!

This is how I sort 100 different charms for swapping.  I throw in a couple extra for safe measure.  Are you signed up for the swap?  Mary at Curious Quilter has extended the sign up period through today!  These 2″ charms could be yours!  Here’s the sign up link.

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 11

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 11

Block 11 twice

Here’s my Block 11, done twice, for the BlockBase Sew Along.  For simplicity sake, the block finishes at 10″.  This allowed me to use 2 1/2″ squares and the Quilt in a Day Flying Geese ruler.

Block 11 style 1

Following BlockBase, I made this block first.

After some research on the Rolling Nine Patch and finding this image,  I tried it with some slightly different fabrics and blocks.

So, I’m not really sure which block I like best, but I’ve got 2 to choose from when I try to design a layout for the 12 blocks in the sew along.

11 blocks to date

Next week, the last block will be revealed and then it’ll be time to plan the quilt for these blocks!

Thanks!  🙂 Linda

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 10

BlockBase Sew Along – Block 10

Block 10

Here’s my Block 10 for the BlockBase Sew Along!  Thanks to my quilting buddy, Candace, for printing off the paper piecing templates for me!  This was a fun block to make and I really like the interlocking illusion of the colors.  The outside color is bright blue but it doesn’t look that way on my computer!  Oh well, it could be my camera, too.

Check here to see other versions of Block 10.

Thanks!  🙂 Linda

Time for a new notebook…

Time for a new notebook…

Van Gogh Irises notebook

When I got this notebook for Christmas, I thought the design looked familiar.  It’s Van Gogh’s Irises.

Van Gogh Irises

Van Gogh painted this while living at an asylum and called this painting “the lightning conductor for my illness“.  He felt he could keep himself from going insane by continuing to paint.  I can relate to that.  Quilting keeps me sane!

i use notebooks to keep a diary of every project, mine and customers, that are loaded on the longarm.  This is my fourth notebook!  I like to record thread color, batting and quilting design notes.   I keep track of monthly, yearly and grand totals, too.

Do you have a method for tracking your quilts?

Thanks for looking!  🙂 Linda
