Linda Taylor’s Feather Meander Pantograph

Linda Taylor’s Feather Meander Pantograph

Wendy’s Fat Quarter Shuffle quilt is perfect for a very pretty pantograph by Linda Taylor called Feather Meander.  It’s has lots of elements so the repeat of the pantograph is larger.

It doesn’t show up in this close up, but the thread is a brown to pink variegated, really compliments the quilt!

Candace of Double Nickel Quilt Challenge made two disappearing 9 patch quilts with different fabrics, for the first quilt I used the blocks to define the quilting design.  See that post here. Hard to believe that it’s the same quilt!  For this quilt we wanted to add fun overall texture.  I used bright orange thread and quilted a square loops design.

It’s a fun and fast quilting design that will work with many different quilt tops.  Give it a try!

Celia’s Block Party quilt

Celia’s Block Party quilt

When Celia brought me this quilt, I thought it looked familiar!  Her friend Janann made the same quilt without borders which I had quilted earlier this year.  Celia let me have free reign with this quilt and I created a design using the square in square elements of the set.  And to complete the look, I used square feathers in the block design and the border braid design.  The wool batting gives the quilt lots of movement and texture.

Stay tuned for another Block Party, Janann just brought me another one today!

Marilyn’s Batik quilt

Marilyn’s Batik quilt

After seeing this quilt by Marilyn, I developed my quilting design called “back and forth feathers” and quilted it on several other quilts, Marty’s, Drew and Abby’s, and Rainbows‘ first, before Marilyn brought hers to me for quilting.

Update:  The pattern for this quilt is “Do The Twist” by This & That.

The quilting uses the blocks as guidelines creating secondary designs.  It’s a feather design with a modern twist.  The blocks in Marilyn’s quilt are much larger that the other quilts but the designs still works.

The pieced back is awesome!  This quilt could be reversible!

How do you know if it’s a longarm quilter?  Because they are always showing their backs!

The batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly and the thread is Superior Threads So Fine #50.

E2E using the blocks = Sine Waves

E2E using the blocks = Sine Waves

Candy of The Double Nickel Quilt Challenge wanted simple all over quilting for this quilt. Masculine motif, no leaves, hearts or feathers.  I really wanted to play off all the squares and rectangles so I started drawing connecting patterns that would go edge to edge (E2E) and on paper they looked like sine waves.
