Here’s another fun quilt from Candace of The Double Nickel Quilt Challenge called Nickel Gumball. The pantograph Double Bubble is a perfect compliment to the polka dot border fabric, carrying the circular theme throughout the quilt. The thread is So Fine by Superior Threads and the batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select.

Twirligig Quilt by The Double Nickel Quilt Challenge
Candy has done another great quilt with a new twist on the disappearing nine patch. Check out her blog for a mini tutorial. The Kaffe Fassett fabrics are great for every type of quilting however we decided an overall would be best and I used one of the big flowers in the fabric as inspiration for a new meander design called Cockscomb meander. The batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select and the thread is Superior Threads King Tut Joseph’s Coat variegated thread.
Gothic Vine Pantograph
Karen’s “Squares” quilt is perfect for the Gothic Vine pantograph. The scroll design of the pantograph compliments the architectural feel of the quilt. The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton select.
Bubbles pantograph and Dream Puff
Here’s a really fun scrappy butterfly quilt created by Ginny. Bubbles pantograph, Dream Puff batting and King Tut variegated thread accent the fun and whimsical nature of this quilt.
Custom vs E2E
“So, how do you want it quilted?” Should you go for the custom quilting or the economical edge to edge quilting? Sometimes it’s the quilts decision! Here are 2 quilts from the same customer using the same fabrics, same batting and about the same size. One quilt is custom, one quilt is E2E and when you look at the pictures you’ll see why. The overall quilting adds texture and detail and is the best quilting option for quilt 1. The custom quilting with border, block, sashing and background fill designs, along with 3 different thread choices really makes this quilt stand out, making it the best option for quilt 2.
