Landon’s Lil’ Rainbow Twister

Landon’s Lil’ Rainbow Twister

Wrapped and readyLandon’s one year birthday party is this weekend!  We can’t attend his party so I gave him his present last night.  Of course, I decided on Monday night to make this Lil’ Rainbow Twister!  No fear, it’s a fast project and I was finished Tuesday night.Landon's Rainbow Lil TwisterI used a neutral Superior So Fine! #5o thread for the quilting and Quilter’s Dream Puff for the batting.  The quilted pinwheel is freehand fun!Mickey Mouse backing fabricLandon loves Mickey Mouse and I was lucky to find some locally!look at those colors! He found the Mickey fabric right away!

I took pictures as I was making the Lil’ Rainbow Twister to show the progression of making a Lil’ Twister quilt.  They can be viewed on my Google+ page here.  Click through to the individual pictures for descriptions.

Thanks!  I hope you’re encouraged to try your Twister Tool, whatever size you have.  I’ll be attempting to cut the waste squares from this rainbow project to make an Itty Bitty Twister!

Denim and Flannel Fireworks quilt

Denim and Flannel Fireworks quilt

Denim Flannel quiltIt’s a finish!  I’ve been saving my son’s skater blue jeans for years and thanks to my quilting buddy’s inspiration, I’ve got a quilt!  My quilt is 64 denim and flannel squares and finishes at 76″ square.  I finished it just in time for watching fireworks!Denim quilt backI love the randomness of the denim colors!  The next quilt will be smaller squares, I’m on  mission to use all those denim jeans!

One of my clients made an original applique airplane quilt, check the pictures here!

I just finished a 3 day sewing retreat and managed to sew a complete baby quilt together!  Now, to find time to quilt and bind it.

Thanks!  Linda 🙂

Great Granny Square Quilt is Done!

Great Granny Square Quilt is Done!

My Great Granny Square quilt Another May finish!  This quilt was started on a whim and I love it when I actually finish!  After checking out Great Granny Square quilts on Pinterest and other blogs, I decided to add cornerstones and binding with a green fabric from my stash.  I tried scrappy cornerstones but the same color looked best to me.

All the fabric was from my stash of 2 1/2″ or 5″ squares plus lots of white remnants.  My quilting buddy, Candace, decided to set her blocks without cornerstones.  Here’s a pic of hers before the binding.  The background fabric is white, my indoor lighting does not do it justice!Candace's Great Granny Square quiltThe block quilting was inspired by a Pinterest pinner who made potholders out of her Great Granny Squares.  After some trial and error, I managed to figure out a path for stitching with the longarm without having to break my thread!  detail back

I love the stitching and did the same thing on Candace’s except for the outside edge fill.

Chevron Table Runner

Chevron Table Runner

Chevron Table RunnerAnother finish!  Here’s a fun and fast project that I assembled at last month’s retreat and slipped into my quilting rotation this month.  For three years we’ve been staying at a great bed and breakfast in Decorah, Iowa while our daughter attends Luther College.  Now that our daughter is ready to graduate, I wanted to make a gift for our hostess.  We visited Decorah this week and I was excited to give her this table runner gift.Chevron Table Runner pattern

The pattern recommends print in the chevron but I was using fabric from my stash and I liked the print on the outside.  This would be a great class project because you can sew the top together in about an hour.
