Baby Elijah’s Tummy Time Quilt revealed!

Baby Elijah’s Tummy Time Quilt revealed!

Elijah's Tummy TimeHere’s my first Tummy Time quilt of 2014!  This is for Elijah, my cousin’s first grandson born March 19!  I had fun using a coordinated set of fat quarters to make this sweet baby boy quilt.   The quilting design is freehand Monkey Tails, the batting is Quilter’s Dream Puff and the thread is Superior So Fine!#50.

marker labelI finished this week, attached the label and mailed it!  When I need it fast, I use a fine fabric marker for the label.  I’m out of practice using my embroidery machine!

My niece makes the cutest little blankies out of furry fabric.  It’s a Softee for the baby’s cheek!

Mimi’s I Spy!

Mimi’s I Spy!

double nickel birthday girlAnother March finish!  With my sister’s double nickel birthday fast approaching I got busy and finished her “I Spy” quilt.  Look familiar?  It’s the same quilt design as Haley’s I Spy quilt.  My original plan was to make one for each of her grandchildren when her first 2 were born in 2011.  Well, I wasn’t fast enough and now she has 3, plus another due next month!   Therefore, one quilt for Mimi!  Every time they come to Mimi’s house they can play I Spy together.

Stitched labelThe border became the stitched label.

Name detailOne of my quilting buddies sold me her alphabet panel so I could spell out their family name!  That was lucky!

Mimi's I SpyI love it!  And I’m linking with Such a Sew and Sew: A Stitch In Time for another March finish!  Check out the other projects here.

Thanks!  Linda 🙂

Skylar’s Dancing 5’s!

Skylar’s Dancing 5’s!

Skylar's Dancing 5'sSkylar’s quilt arrived on her doorstep today!  How do you like this quilt for my 10 year old niece?  When I started to plan her quilt, I was making Bonnie Hunter’s Dancing Nine Patch.  The nine patches finish at 5″ so I pooled together 120 different 5″ charms and her favorite color, blue.

The quilting is is freehand loops and mod flowers along with a stitched label.

Another scrap quilt started!!  Denise gave me a great tutorial on making Mile a Minute crumb blocks at our fabulous retreat during the AQS Des Moines quilt show last weekend!   I’m auditioning possible fabric for the sashing strips.

What do you think?

Here’s an example of a crumb quilt with diagonal setting and a fun crumb strip detail giving it an argyle look.  This was a favorite from the Des Moines quilt guild’s show.

I have enough crumbs to make multiple quilts, so I’ll make the straight set first and then argyle set.

Did you make it to the AQS show in Des Moines?

Check out Patchwork Times for other Design Wall Monday projects!

Thanks!  Linda 🙂
