Happy Wedding, Jeremy and Stacey!!

Happy Wedding, Jeremy and Stacey!!

Love's Woven Rectangles for the happy couple!Last weekend we celebrated my nephew, Jeremy’s marriage to Stacey.  I was happy to present them with this wedding quilt I call, “Love’s Woven Rectangles”.Woven RectanglesEven though I didn’t use a pattern, it’s easy to plan and execute the woven effect of the rectangles.wrapped for givingI’ve been having fun stitching names into my quilts in lieu of a label!DateJeremy will never forget his anniversary!detail 2The quilting is freehand pebbles in the white and back and forth lines in the blocks.quilt foldsLight green thread adds a soft cast to the white fabric that you have to look close to notice. The thread is So Fine! #50, color 505.  The batting is Quilters Dream Poly Select.

As they return from their honeymoon today, I hope they love it!

Purple Puzzle Quilt for Alexis

Purple Puzzle Quilt for Alexis

Alexis surpiseMy grand niece, Alexis, will be a sophomore in college so I’m only one year late for this high school graduation quilt!  I think she was surprised!Alexis's Purple PuzzlesOnce I knew purple was her favorite color, I started collecting and trading purple fat quarters and then designed a simple puzzle pattern using EQ7.simple grid quiltingUsing five different purple threads, I quilted a simple uneven grid.  The different threads don’t show as much as I thought they would!

Thanks!!

Barb’s Purple and Green – This is how I do it!

Barb's Purple and Green column quiltWhen Barb and I discussed her quilt, I suggested green thread for the E2E Floral Meander quilting design.  I like to match the top and bobbin thread so the green thread would be a nice contrast for the purple backing fabric.  I love it!Floral Meander back detail The batting is Quilters Dream Puff, which enhances the quilting, too.Floral Meander front detailWe’re playing with a new camera attached to my longarm, so here’s a video of how I quilt my Floral Meander!  Enjoy!

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Stephanie Brandenburg Daydreams

When Sheila brought me this Stephanie Brandenburg quilt, I knew I would need lots of thread!  In fact, this is the reason I have a large thread collection!  I had great fun with thread play on this quilt and used eleven different So Fine! #50 colors.

11 thread colors

I  used double batting for this project, Quilter’s Dream Poly black and Hobb’s Heirloom wool.  Stephanie Brandenburg paints with color, I painted with thread!  Fair warning!  Lot’s of pictures! Read the rest of this entry
