Four Babies and a Wedding!

Four Babies and a Wedding!

great girl colorsBaby #4, Aria Lennon, was born today!!  She’s so sweet and cuddly, we had to make a trip to the hospital to see her.

Aria LennonI had so much fun making Aria’s Tummy Time quilt with 2 fat quarter bundles of fairy princess fabrics!

Most of my baby quilts are super scrappy but this one is coordinated and designed for the fabric.  My quilting buddy, Candace, helped design the layout, color placement and border design.

wrapped and readyI washed and dried the quilt to fluff up the applique edges and soften the quilt.  Here it is all wrapped and ready with a Lil’ Lovee attached.

Now that the babies are done for the year, the next big event is a wedding!!!  Stay tuned for that reveal!!

Until then, I’m linking up with Such a Sew and Sew:  A Stitch In Time for another August finish!  Check out other August finishes here.

Wrapped and readyTime to reveal the sneak peak quilt!  Landon Ryan was born last night!  Of course, we headed to the hospital to hold him and give him his Tummy Time quilt and Lil’ Lovee.

Landon Ryan - one day

Landon Ryan's Tummy Time quiltHe is so adorable and even though I guessed girl, we couldn’t be happier for our niece and her hubby!

I love string quilts and scrappy quilts, therefore, this is one of my favorites!  In fact, I’ve already started another one.  With my big extended family, I’m sure I’ll need it soon!

Minkee back and quilting detailThis is the first time I’ve used Minkee for the backing fabric on a Tummy Time quilt.  I like it!  It’s super soft and shows off the quilting design.

Landon’s big brother is Jordy, who has a few of my quilted projects!  Here’s Jordy with his Tummy Time quilt.

Yesterday we welcomed, Sunny Joy!  The second of four babies to be born in my extended family this year!

Sunny Joy

My sister, Grandma Marge, was able to hand deliver this quilt before the baby was born

Isn’t she adorable?!

This is the third baby quilt I’ve made for them.  Here’s a link to the previous quilts.

It's a little tangy pattern

As you can see, I love scrappy!   All the fabric is 2 1/2″ strips from my scrap bin!

This quilt is in the book, Scrap-Basket Surprises by Kim Brackett.   The pattern is called “A Little Tangy”.

Stay tuned for baby 3 and 4 quilts to be revealed!

Thanks!  Linda 🙂

Lil’ Lovee by Linda!

Lil’ Lovee by Linda!

wrapped and ready

With all the babies being born in my family this year, I’m trying new ideas for baby gifts.  This is my latest creation called Lil’ Lovee by Linda.

I combined leftover Minkee and flannel scraps.  The finished size is about 13″, but you can make it any size depending on your remnants.  I used 2 flannels to make an uneven 4 patch block.  Any block would work, I wanted fewer seams to keep it soft and cuddly.  If I was more ambitious, I might have personalized the Lil’ Lovee, maybe next time!

Lil' Lovee

It’s a sweet, cheek cuddler when they’re little babies and a dolly blanket when they’re older.  It’s sooooo soft.

Like the dish mats, I left the 4 patch seam open for turning and then top- stitched around the seams, closing the opening.  Fast and easy!

This one was sent to Kailani, who is enjoying her Tummy Time quilt, too!

Swirl and Curl quilting

My extended family will be having four babies this year!  And yesterday was the arrival of the first, Kailani Harper!  I love making Tummy Time quilts for the babies and here’s the one I made for Kailani.

If you’ve followed my blog you might have seen the design process for making this quilt.  All the fabric was leftover from another quilt!

The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton select with another layer of Quilter’s Dream Puff!  I love the texture of the double batting and my new favorite Swirl and Curl freehand quilting design.  I challenge the parents to use the quilts and I’ll make them another if they wear it out!

I’m linking with A Stitch in Time for another April finish!
