Paisley Party – Design Wall Monday

Paisley Party – Design Wall Monday

In an effort to find some fabric for making Great Granny Squares, I found a stash of Paisley Party fabric by Red Rooster.  A few years ago I made a graduation quilt using this fabric and free pattern from Red Rooster.  The fabric is all cut to 4 1/2″strips and I couldn’t bear to cut it again into 2 1/2″ so I’m going to randomly sew it into rows and see what I get!  I have more of the white, green and aqua to make 32 more 4 patch units.  I love this fabric and what’s left will make a small lap or baby quilt.

Design Wall Monday and September Finish

Design Wall Monday and September Finish

My design wall of great granny squares is growing!  A couple more weeks and I might get to the magic number of 20.

Do you have a favorite block?  It seems the last block I made is my favorite.  Here’s the last one I made.

In The Bag – Ugly Fabric Quilt Challenge

In The Bag – Ugly Fabric Quilt Challenge

Chevron Picnic Quilt

Mission accomplished!  The “ugly” fabric that I received from Patti in Canada is a quilt!  All the fabric is from Patti, except a little bit of white for the blocks and the backing fabric.  No fabric was purchased for this challenge, all stash fabric!

I love how it looks outside on the grass or picnic table.  Each row is quilted with a different design to the middle and then mirrored.  The thread is white and doesn’t show except on the green blocks!  That’s okay, it adds texture and I love the white thread on the white fabric.

Turning the quilt gives it a different look, too!

See. the back is really the ugly fabric!  I want to use this quilt so I did not want white backing fabric.  Of course, I have to show you the back to reveal the quilting detail!

Now, I haven’t planted petunias in 2 or 3 years but in the middle of my yard, next to the tree stump is a volunteer petunia that started blooming this week.  Not sure how it got there, some critter must have planted it for me!

Have you participated in a swap like this?  Check out other posts about this challenge.  Thanks for looking!  :)Linda

Anabel’s Lil’ Twister Dolly quilt

Anabel’s Lil’ Twister Dolly quilt

My grand-niece Anabel turned one yesterday and every little girl needs a dolly quilt! This quilt is the result of doing a Lil’ Twister tool demo for quilt guild.  It’s a perfect size for a Tummy Time dolly quilt.

And just for fun, I made a little postage stamp quilt for the dolly!  My quilting buddy, Candace, has been donating charms to me for my PSQ and a few of them were pink flannel!   Isn’t it cute?   I used a flannel backing with no batting or quilting.

I didn’t have Anabel’s dolly for the photo, so I swiped a Teddy bear from our daughter’s room to show the size.

I usually do big projects, but it’s very satisfying to make small ones!

I didn’t have an August finish to post, where did that month go, so I’m linking to September’s Stitch In Time for my first finish.  I hope to have another finish this month!  We’ll see!
