Peacock Feather Meander

Peacock Feather Meander

Trust me it’s quilted!  While the quilting doesn’t show in this picture, a peacock feather meander is a perfect overall pattern for this quilt.  It’s a freehand design that allows you choose your density.  The thread is Superior Threads So Fine #50 which blends great with this fabric.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream Blend.  Here’s the quilting detail, click pictures to enlarge.

Is this one of your regular quilting designs?  If not, try it on your next project, either as an E2E or background fill.  I’d love to see your pictures, send me a link to your blog or pictures!

Deb's Antique Butterfly quilt

As promised, here’s the completed quilt picture!  The binding is black Kona cotton which accents the black butterfly bodies.  The quilt is larger than my hanging space!  As I worked on this, I picked out my favorite butterfly fabrics.  Here’s one of my favorites.

Two more Stacked Squares!

Two more Stacked Squares!

When my nephew got married this summer, what was his present?  A “Stacked Squares” quilt!  Here’s how I “wrap” my quilts for gift giving.  You might notice one square has their name and wedding date stitched on it, too!  The second Stacked Squares went to college with my daughter and I forgot to get a picture, thus here’s a pic of me and my daughter posing in her dorm room!   For Brett’s wedding quilt and Rachel’s dorm quilt, the border is a wavy crosshatch, otherwise, the details are the same as my previous post.

Freehand stylized shell

Freehand stylized shell

Here’s a perfect quilt for an edge to edge design.  A freehand shell design adds lots of movement and texture to the batik fabrics.  The thread is a King Tut variegated by Superior Threads and the batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select.

Girl Talk by Rainbows and Calico Things

What girl wouldn’t want a quilt like this?!  The kit is available at Rainbows and Calico Things, online or in the store.  To compliment the squares we decided on a freehand edge to edge (E2E) spiral design using white thread.  The quilting adds lots of great texture and movement.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream Poly select, which is white and guarantees the white fabric to stay white looking.
