Salome Ruth’s Tummy Time Quilt

Salome Ruth’s Tummy Time Quilt

Scrappy string quilts are one of my favorites for a new baby’s tummy time quilt.  Last month my sister hand delivered this to the newest family edition, Salome Ruth, her 8th grandchild and 7th girl!Sometimes, if I make the quilt after they’re born, I can stitch their name into the quilt.  And since this little one has 3 other siblings she can say this one is hers!I almost forgot to add my name and got it into the last little corner of the quilt!A recycle bed sheet package is a great way to send it on the plane! And here’s cute little Salome trying out her quilt!! The quilting design is a freehand echoed heart.  I still have lots of strings left and will be making another one soon!

Have a great day stitching!

Natalie’s Reading Quilt

Natalie’s Reading Quilt

Not sure what to do with a charm pack?  Make a reading quilt, the right size for your reading corner!  I framed each charm with alternating peppered cotton grouping each color together. The quilting is a simple squiggly line around the blocks and a squarish flower in the block.  Wrapped with a piece of selvage and it’s ready to give to Natalie!

Thanks for hanging in there while I fix some blog issues.  Hopefully, I can post more often!

Happy Wedding, Stephanie and Christopher!!

Happy Wedding, Stephanie and Christopher!!

labeled-and-ready

Last month we celebrated the marriage of our daughter, Stephanie to Christopher!  It was a magical night and couldn’t have been more perfect for two very special people.  I’m a quilter but Stephanie is a photographer!  Check out her amazing work here!

The quilt I chose for Stephanie and Christopher is a quilt I made a few years ago.  It’s the quilt she asked to inherit but I didn’t want to wait that long to give it to her!  It’s also one of my bucket list quilt and one of my favorites.  It’s a bucket list quit because of the tumbler shape and the uneven binding. And it’s a one of a kind because I’ll never do that again!Tumbler edges

This quilt has a fun story, too.  I fell in love with the Amy Butler fabric and one of her reversible apron patterns, so I bought what I needed to make it.  Really?  I soon realized it would be a very expensive apron, (that probably wouldn’t get finished)!!  That’s when I switched gears and my “Apron Quilt” was designed and made.Apron turned tumbler quilt

Even though I gave away one of my most favorite quilts, it’s still in the family and I’ll be able to visit it!  It’s almost like giving away one of your children!

Have you ever switched gears and made something totally different then you planned?  If you care to comment, leave it on my Facebook page!

I have been busy with customer quilts and hope to post a bunch of pictures at the end of the year!

Thanks!

Linda 🙂

Happy Wedding, Chelsea and Brian!

Happy Wedding, Chelsea and Brian!

Modern Rustic Charm

Earlier this month we celebrated at Chelsea and Brian’s wedding and here’s my present to them!  This is my design using Moda Grunge 5″ charm packs for the off center vertical design and the horizontal row in the back.  My title for this quilt is “Modern Rustic Charm”.  I love the distressed nature of the Grunge fabric!back of quiltThe backing needed the extra row to make it big enough.
name and date detailThe quilting design is a back forth grid matching the size of the charm squares with the couple’s name and wedding date stitched in the quilt.Wrapped and labeledI love Moda’s Grunge line of fabric.  The newest line of colors is out, here’s a place to buy it!  I have an idea for a jelly roll pattern, so it’s on my wish list!!

That’s 4 weddings and 2 babies so far this year!  And there’s still more to come!  If time permits, I hope to post some awesome customer, too!

Happy stitching!

Happy Wedding, Chris and Arissa!

Happy Wedding, Chris and Arissa!

Rectangles and SquaresLast month we celebrated with Chris and Arissa at their wedding and this was my present to them.  This quilt, “Rectangles and Squares” is a result of my moratorium on sewing triangles and I’m still not sewing too many triangles!! I love the simplicity of it and it’s a fun way to use a collection of fabrics.  I have a mini-tutorial for making this quilt here!  A scrappy version of this is on my quilts to make list.front and backI love how the swirly quilting compliments the backing fabric and the rectangles on the front.front detailIt looks like a different quilt when you rotate it and the rectangles are vertical.  That could be the next layout!wrapped, ready and baggedI even surprised myself by making a label, (the day of the wedding, haha!) and here’s a look into the gift bag!  As you can see, they’ve already celebrated their one month anniversary!!  Happy Wedding, Chris and Arissa!

Stay tuned for more wedding quilt reveals!
