Just Meandering Around

Just Meandering Around

Lately, several of my customers have wanted basic E2E meandering for their quilt tops and I’m okay with that!  For me, it’s an easy design that keeps me on schedule and for my customers it’s an economical way to get their quilt finished.  We select the meandering density, thread color and  batting that will compliment their quilt.

I use a stitched sample of basic meandering sizes to help them decide on the density.  The really tiny stitching is usually called stippling and used for background fill, not E2E.

When I’m meandering around, I’m paying attention to my stitch density and the great stitch quality of the APQS Millennium!  Sometimes, my mind wanders and I’m thinking of quilts I want to make or what I’m making for dinner but I try to pay attention!

Here are the photos of  recent  meandering customer quilts!

Here’s my first foray in quilting videos!  Thanks to Connie at Artisan at Heart for requesting it and to my dear hubby for operating the camera and getting it uploaded to YouTube.  The tricky part is trying to sew with the Millennium handles straight up so they are out of the camera view.

I designed this E2E pattern when Candace of Double Nickel Quilt Challenge brought me a quilt with Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  I call it Cockscomb Meander but another good name would be Fassett Flowers!  It’s very simple and easy to change for your own personal style and density.  Here’s some quilts with the design.  Ginny’s QuiltCandace’s Quilt.  Hope you like it and have fun!!

Looped Spirals and Homespun

Looped Spirals and Homespun

I love homespun quilts, especially after they are washed and dried, they get all wrinkly and cuddly.

For this quilt we decided on a freehand E2E that I call Looped Spirals.  I slightly overlapped the spirals to add interest and mimic the way a plaid overlaps.

The spirals add great texture which will increase and soften with washing.  The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton select, perfect for homespun quilts!  Just the right about of shrinkage and thickness.

And I have to show you the fun pieced back!

Another Quilt Wrangling!

Another Quilt Wrangling!

Here’s another one of the big quilts I wrangled!  I should have taken a picture of it loaded on the longarm, it filled the space! Emily wanted an E2E and gave me free reign to pick it.  I had fun combining a couple of freehand designs to compliment the fabric in the big blocks.  So, I don’t really have a name but how about  Nouveau feathers with stylized shell meander.

The solid brown fabric shows off the stitching, too.

The batting is Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton select and the thread is Superior OMNI in the needle and So Fine 50 in the bobbin.
