Here’s my next quilt for LAQ. It’s a vintage quilt with hand pieced blocks and machine stitched borders. Some of the fabrics look like feed sack material.
One of my books, called this block, “Zig Zag”. Is there another name for it?

This is a big one, much bigger than my hanging space for pictures!
I was very honored that Diane wanted me to quilt this for her. She spent 2 1/2 years assembling this quilt with lots and lots of “Y” seams! She wanted the quilting to accent the blocks and stabilize the “Y”seams. I suggested a continuous curve throughout the blocks and some ghosted blocks on the edges for interest.
I love this quilt! It was hard to decide what pictures to post, I took so many.
The thread matched the background fabric perfectly and the small meander frames the tumbling blocks.
As awesome as the front is, the back shows a great secondary pattern, not visible from the front.
The continuous curves mimics another block called Cathedral Windows, which Diane considered making instead of the tumbling block.
The optical illusions are awesome with this quilt.

Four Great Granny square blocks ready for trimming! I love that I’m using scraps and strips to make these! The background is scrappy white fabric, too. Want to sew along? Check out the Great Granny Along!
I’m excited to post a July finish! Purple seems to be a hard color for my camera so I took this finished quilt outside for better results.
I used the leftover squares to make the quilt reversible!

To finish Ellen’s quilt we selected the Hibiscus Pantograph and Quilter’s Dream Wool Batting. The thread is a Superior Threads King Tut variegated, which looks great in person but doesn’t really show up in this photo!

I’ve been so busy sewing postage stamp and great granny blocks, I’m behind on posting customer quilts!
Marty’s quilt is truly reversible! For this, we decided an E2E design to compliment both sides. And because I would not be able to see the grey thread, I picked the Waterworld pantograph for the quilting design.
Here’s the back view and it looks great, too!
After quilting it, I might even like the reverse side better than the front! What do you think?
