Design Wall Monday and #475!

Design Wall Monday and #475!

I started this project at a quilt retreat in January, it’s from the book, Scrap-Basket Surprises by Kim Brackett.  This one is called, “A Little Tangy”.  All the quilt patterns in this book use 2 1/2″ strips.  As you know, I’ve been cutting up my scraps into strips and squares so this is perfect.  For this project I’m using bright strips because I love bright quilts and I have lots of fabrics in this category!

Notice the two odd blocks?  I had to make 2 wrong before I realized it!  That’s what happens when you stop and start projects!

Now, I just have to decide how big to make this quilt!  I have lots of strips cut so I’ll keep going for now.

I appreciate pattern instructions that include pressing instructions.  For this block the seams are rotated clockwise, making the little 4 patch in the intersection.  If you do each block the same, the seams will nest when they are sewn together.

I’m still working on my Trash to Treasure Pineapple quilt and the small fabric ends from this quilt are going in the pile for pineapple blocks and a few Postage Stamp Charms.

On another note, Saturday, I quilted my 475th quilt on my longarm!

Marty’s Big Camping Quilt

Marty’s Big Camping Quilt

I’ve been busy quilting customer quilts and not posting them!  So here’s Marty’s Big Camping quilt.  It’s much bigger than my hanging space!  Even though it’s a big one, I was able to turn the quilt for stitching the borders, but just barely.  The borders have separate designs and the center is quilted with two different motifs to change the texture of the quilt along the camping blocks.

The batting is Quilter’s Dream Blend and the thread is Superior Threads So Fine 50.  I used a color that matched so well that I couldn’t see it sometimes!

And the back is always fun to look at!  For the narrow green border I switched to a dark green thread in the needle and bobbin.

Marty did another big quilt which I will feature in the next post!

Another March Finish!

Another March Finish!

Here’s the after washing and drying picture of my homespun Stacked Squares quilt.  Yes, I have made several of these quilts.  I believe this is the 12th one!  Every time I start one of these for myself, I end up giving it away!  So, I’ll be starting another one for me.  13 is a lucky number in our house, so I’ll keep that one for me!  Maybe!!

Here’s a view before washing and drying.  I love how the homespun shrinks up and gets all cuddly and wrinkly.  I’m using Quilter’s Dream 100% cotton select batting.

I’m linking up to Such a Sew and Sew: A Stitch in Time… for another March finish.  My first finish was a little potholder.

March Finishes

Spoiler Alert to my sister, Patty!

I’m still working on my Trash to Treasure Pineapple quilt but I got sidetracked this week with my sister’s T-shirt quilt.  This is one of those projects that keeps getting set aside but now I’m determined to finish this “Loose End”!  Patty helped me out this week by eliminating some of the t-shirts and they may end up in a second quilt!

So, I’m off and sewing!  Because the t-shirt panels are various sizes, I’m making 4 vertical rows and building the smaller motifs to fit the row width.  I love it!!
